Spike Peterson basically indicates how key positive factors of the worldwide economic climate more and more ascertain daily lives around the globe. the 1st is explosive progress in monetary markets that form enterprise decision-making and public policy-making, and the second one is dramatic development in casual and versatile paintings preparations that form income-generation and kin health. those advancements, although well known, are hardly ever analyzed as inextricable and interacting dimensions of globalization. utilizing a brand new theoretical version, Peterson demonstrates the interdependence of reproductive, effective and digital economies and analyzes inequalities of race, gender, type and kingdom as structural beneficial properties of neoliberal globalization. providing a methodologically plural, cross-disciplinary and well-documented account of globalization, the writer integrates marginalized and disparate positive factors of globalization to supply an obtainable narrative from a postcolonial feminist vantage element.

As I hope the book demonstrates, I share this critique of totalizing discourse and analysis. At the same time, I join those postmodernists who argue that a rejection of universalizing metanarratives does not entail rejecting large-scale and systematic analyses of how power operates. The risks of overgeneralization are ever present and my interventions are neither innocent nor adequate in this regard. I assume the risks because failing to do so has arguably more problematic consequences. Foremost among these is the extent to which failing to develop alternative, critical accounts cedes the analytical and ideological terrain to advocates of neoliberalism.

It also brings neglected feminist research and mystified financial markets into clearer view. Insofar as prevailing accounts are dominated by modernist, economistic, and masculinist commitments, they in fact impede adequate understanding of and critical practice in regard to globalization’s circuits of power. The alternative RPV framing and triad analytics deployed here offer more relational and more critical understanding, in the hope of encouraging more effective resistance to current and emerging inequalities of power.

Hence, the centrality of networking as the most appropriate logic, flexibility as the operative principle, and technological convergence as the developmental trajectory. What are the consequences of information technologies? Answering this question is exceedingly complex, and this book is an initial attempt to “map” that terrain. Three interrelated observations provide context. First, the new technologies transform production processes, their (networked) organization, and their global effects. This is the more familiar and relatively well-mapped terrain of political economy, whether its analysts are applauding or criticizing these changes.
